Application: A selective medium for the culture, isolation and preliminary differentiation of bacteria of the genus Yersinia from heavily contaminated samples. The selective nature of the medium is due to the addition of sodium deoxycholate, bile salts, brilliant green and citrates, which inhibits the growth of almost all associated microflora without affecting the growth of pathogenic strains of Yersinia enterocolitica.
