VIRKON S
Product description
Virkon S is intended for use in all situations where thorough and effective disinfection is required. It can be used in outbreaks of infectious diseases, including for the control of foot-and-mouth disease and avian influenza. At the recommended concentrations, the product has bactericidal, virucidal and fungicidal properties.
Directions for use:
The product should be applied to surfaces that have been pre-cleaned and washed, both for prophylactic disinfection and in the event of an epizootic threat.
The product may be applied to the surfaces to be disinfected by washing, wiping, spraying or fine-droplet spraying using pressure sprayers.
Preventative disinfection: use a 0.5–1.0% solution (dissolve 0.5/1 kg of the product in 100 litres of lukewarm water, or 5.0/10.0 g in 1 litre of lukewarm water). Contact time: 30–60 minutes.
Disinfection in outbreaks of infectious diseases: use a 2.0% solution, 300 ml/m² (2.0 kg per 100 litres of lukewarm water or 20.0 g per 1 litre). Duration of action: 60 minutes.
In combating the foot-and-mouth disease virus, the product is effective even at a dilution of 1 : 1300; the recommended concentration is 0.5–1.0 per cent, with an action time of 30–60 minutes. In combating the H5N1 avian influenza virus, the product is effective at a
dilution of 1:1000; the recommended concentration is 1.0 per cent, with an action time of 60 minutes.
Disinfection pools and mats: 0.5–2.0% solution; replace every two days or as required depending on soiling.
Disinfection of drinking water for poultry: 1.0 kg per 1,000 litres of water (0.1%).
For the disinfection of hatching eggs: a 0.5–1.0% solution applied as a fine-droplet spray or by immersing the eggs in the solution for a few seconds. Rinse with water after 10 minutes and dry.
The product may be applied to surfaces to be disinfected by washing, wiping, spraying or fine-droplet spraying using pressure sprayers.
When disinfecting surfaces, use approximately 200–300 ml of solution per 1 m². When fogging with a 0.5–1.0% solution in the presence of animals, use 1 litre of solution per 100 m³
of the room; use mechanical aerosol generators. The working solution has a shelf life of 5 days. If the solution loses its pink colour, this indicates a loss of biocidal efficacy.
