Contact plates are mainly used to monitor microbiological contamination of surfaces (e.g. tables, equipment, walls) using the contact method, and of the air using the sedimentation method.
Application:
A medium used for the isolation and differentiation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The medium is selective due to the presence of cetrimide, which inhibits the growth of most associated microflora.
