Application:
A selective medium for the detection and enumeration of faecal coliform bacteria using the membrane filter method. The composition of the medium has been optimised to ensure the growth of coliform bacteria. The medium, which provides carbon, nitrogen, minerals and vitamins, contains animal peptones and lactose. Yeast extract provides a complex of B-group vitamins, which stimulates the growth of microorganisms.
